Race for the Cure – Evansville, IN

This past weekend Evansville, IN held their Race for the Cure 3K run. Andrea, her cousin Jess, Jess’s husband Bill, and I all participated. The girls ran while Bill and I walked the race.

The temperature was great in the upper 60s. Andrea and Jess finished the race right around thirty minutes. It took Bill and I right out an hour.

Race for the Cure is a great caused and we all had fun getting out and spending time with others who also feel the same.

I tracked my progress on my smartphone. My smartphone service is only $49 a month for unlimited talk, text and data on a 4G network through Solavei. If you would like to also have affordable cell service sign up today by clicking on this link!

The app I used to track my progress was Runtastic. I really like this app. Runtastic hooked up with my GPS and Google maps. It let me know who fast I was going and the change in elevation. Once the race was done I could go back and see the route we took and my progress. This app also enables you to hook up to a heart monitor if you have one. I don’t have one yet but I have seen some on the internet for right around $60 that are bluetooth capable. I am planning on buying one for me and Andrea here in the near future.

I encourage everyone to get out and do some exercise. It is great for your health both physically and mentally.

Find a cause you feel strongly about and get out and support it. Whether you do a race, help organize one of their functions, or donate money. You will feel great doing it.

And don’t forget come and join me on the Solavei network with your cell phone. Only $49 a month for talk, text, and data.

It is a Great Deal! I love the service and most importantly the PRICE!

Have a Great Week!

Bourbon Marinaded Salmon, Brown Rice, and Creamy Spinach Total Meal 608 Calories

Here is another meal Andrea and I per paired the other night. The bourbon marinade is a recipe that a chef in Jacksonville, FL gave me a few years ago. We really like it. It goes great on the Salmon and chicken too.

Bourbon Marinade

  • 1/2 cup of molasses
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger

I marinaded the salmon for about thirty minutes and then cooked it on the stove.

Here is the brake down on the calories for our dinner.

  • Marinaded Salmon – 398 calories
  • 1/2 cup of brown rice – 150 calories
  • 1/2 cup of creamy spinach – 60 calories
  • total calories – 608

I am also tracking my calorie intake on Lose It! It has helped me stay on track and realize how bad some of the food I have been eating are for me.

I really like using Lose It! because they have a mobile app that I can access on my Solavei cell phone. It really makes it easy to keep up with my weight loss progress. What I love about Solavei is that I can get unlimited talk, text, and data for only $49 a month and no contract! To get more information on how you too can get unlimited talk, text, and data for only $49 contact me.

Weight loss challenge Week 1 – 17 Day Diet

OK, as I mentioned earlier this week I have set a goal to lose at least 76lbs. to get me down to 200lbs. Below is a list of everything I am going to do to be successful on this journey.

  1. The 17 Day Diet  downloadable PDF
  2. Lose It!
  3. Exercise with Andrea and Clinton
  4. Post results weekly here and on youtube

My buddy Kip, who is a truck driver, introduced me to the17 Day Diet. He has been doing the 17 Day Diet for a while now and has lost over 100lbs. WOW! That is great! Keep up the good work Kip. I know you will reach your goal.

On the 17 Day Diet you can eat as much as you want of certain foods and there are two different cycles that you can be on. The reason it is called the 17 Day Diet is because each cycle lasts 17 Days.

Now I am sure you read that on the 17 Day Diet you can eat all you want of certain foods and that is correct; however, I want to get the best results and to do it as quickly as I can. Therefore, I have incorporated the Lose It! website to help track my progress and limit my calorie intake to keep me on pace to lose two pounds a week without working out. That way when I work out I will hopefully lose more that two pounds a week. We will see what happens!

I am planning on working out with my wife Andrea and my friend Clinton. This week I did not work out at all but I have plans to begin working out on Monday. More than likely we will start out walking and increase from there.

And finally I will post my progress both here, on the blog, and on youtube. I should have my youtube post up either tonight or sometime on Sunday. Once it is posted I will also post the video at the bottom of this blog.

I am also providing a free copy of the 17 Day Diet, here on my blog, for anyone who would like to do it with me and I have also provided links throughout this blog to connect to Lose It! to track your calories.

OK enough about what I am doing to track and hold myself accountable on my weight lose journey.  Let me tell you what happened this week and report my progress.

I weighed in on Tuesday 9/4/12 at 276lbs. I have cut out all fast food and Coke this week. Lose It! said that I should only eat 2182 calorie a day. Let me tell you, when you are eating salads, chicken, turkey, egg whites, Kefir, and a few things that are not on the diet like my peanut butter crackers, it is very hard to reach that 2182 caloric goal. Below is a daily list of the calories I consumed.

  • Tuesday       1306
  • Wednesday  1525
  • Thursday      1006
  • Friday           2283

Let me tell you a quick story about Friday-it was the only day I was over my calorie limit for the day. Andrea called me on the way home and asked me to pick up fried chicken for dinner. I reminded her that was not on our diet but since we both had been having an issue getting all of our calories for a day we decided to have the fried chicken.

The fried chicken was very good but when it was time for me to log my chicken on Lose It! I was shocked how many calories I had just consumed. I ate two chicken breasts, skin and all. My total calorie intake for the chicken only was a whopping 1279 calorie. That was more calorie than I had eaten all day!  Just my protein for dinner! Needless to say, I will not be eating any fried chicken any time soon. I would rather spend those calories eating more food that will keep me feeling full rather than to eat the fried chicken.

When I stepped on the scale this morning I was not really sure what it would read, especially after Friday night’s dinner. But I weighed in at 169lbs. WOW!! I could not believe it. I know most of the weight lose is due to not eating fast food or drinking soda but I am heading in the right direction.

I also wanted to mention that I am tracking all of my calories on Lose It! through my smartphone app. I am on the Solavei network. You can get unlimited talk, text and data on a 4G network for only $49 a month or LESS! That is right, I said LESS. Solavei will pay you monthly $20 for every three active members you bring over. So if you get 9 people signed up for cell service through Solavei your phone service will be free! Now that is a great deal!

For more information on Solavei click here and fill out my contact form. I will get in touch with you and help you get started.

Please follow me here and on youtube. Join my weight loss challenge and post your commitment and progress both here and on youtube. Keep an eye out for next weeks post.

I am also thinking about posting some of the meals we are making and the amount of calories each of meals are.

Check back regularly!

My weight loss challenge Day One!

OK so as I mentioned before I am on a wait loss challenge with a goal to lose 70lbs. I weighted in at a whopping 276 lbs. I have been hovering around this number for the last couple of years. My ideal weight I would like to see myself at is 200lbs.

I am tracking my calorie intake through Lose It! and I have set a goal of losing 2lbs. a week. At this rate my calorie intake for the day should be 2150 calories a day. For my first day where I did not have a coke, candy bar, or fast food I only eat 1300 calories.

I am going to do a better job over this coming week on eating more food that is health for me so I can get to my 2150 calories a day. I will be tracking my goal through my smartphone and the google android app for Lost It! You should look at Solavei for you smartphone service provider. Solavei offers Unlimited talk, text, and data for only $49 a month or LESS! That is right I said Less! If you bring over your friends and family to Solavei, Solavei will pay you monthly for every three people you have with an active account. With only 9 people signed up under you, you will get your phone service for FREE!! NOW IS THAT A DEAL OR WHAT! For more information on Solavei contact me today!

Also check back I will post my results on my weight loss progress at the end of the week.

My weight loss challenge

My wife just introduced me to Lose It! It is a web site that helps you track your weight loss goals through your calorie intake and the amount of exercise you do. I have a goal to lose 70 pounds! That is right I am not a little guy. I never really was. I play offensive and defensive line on my high school football team. Here is a picture of my wife Adrea and I. I try not to get my picture taken so I don’t have evidence of how fat I am.

Anyways back to the program, I am going to update this weekly on my progress. Basically I am going to track my calorie intake each day and keep my calories at my target number each day. I am also going to incorporate some type of exercise as well like walking, running, or one of the many workout videos I have at my house.

What is really cool about Lose It! is that they have an Android Mobile app that I have downloaded on my smartphone. This way it should be a little easier for me to keep track of my activities.

If you don’t have a smartphone are if you are paying to much for your service you should take a look at Solavei. Solavei is a new 4G service provider offering unlimited talk, text and data for $49 a month or LESS! That is right I say or LESS. Once you have signed up for service you are able to invite others like your friends and family to join Solavei. Solavei will pay you every month $20 for every three active accounts you have under you. This is an unlimited income potential!
